Thoughts & Prayers

The following names may be members, family, or friends who are having health problems, have lost a loved one, or may be experiencing some other kind of hardship in their lives. We want each and every one these people to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. If you are not listed it is not because we don’t care, it is only because we don’t know.

Tom Pearson’s mother passed early Monday morning after a long six week battle.  Additionally, Tom’s grandmother’s 89 year old sister (Tom has her power of attorney, etc) fell and broke her hip on Sunday morning.  She is 40 miles away and he has been staying with her and is absolutely exhausted.  Please keep Tom and his family in your prayers.

Please remember Jon Saville and his family in your prayers.  His cancer has caused his liver to quit functioning.  Drs have said they had done all they could.

Ed Robertson’s sister, Jean Powell passed away on July 8th.  We extend our sympathies to Ed and mary for their loss.

Please keep Ed and Mary Cheeks in your prayers.  Ed will be admitted to LSU-Medical in Shreveport on Thursday, July 15th with surgery scheduled for Friday morning, July 16th.  The way Ed understands it, the doctors will remove his entire esophagus, which is about 9", from throat to stomach, and pull the stomach upward toward the lung area.  His gall bladder will also be removed.  He will be in ICU for about 4 days after surgery and in the hospital a total of 10 days, depending on how he does.  Prognosis is good for recovery.  Ed knows we are all praying for him, but he asks that you don’t let up.

Please continue to pray for Bobby Clark as he recovers from his stroke and his recent fall,  Wayne Hart’s son Lance who is handicapped with a brain injury due to a 1999 car accident, Judy Webb’s niece, Cindy Harper who has cancer, Bill Barbuto’s Dad with heart problems, and Lana Carpenter’s sister, Sandra Hoppen who is undergoing chemotherapy with radiation soon to follow.

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,  for ever and ever. Amen!

I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic
for which it stands:
One nation
under GOD, Indivisible, with
Liberty and Justice
for all.

Special Thanks!

FRIDAY JULY 9 – From Ed Robertson

We had planned to leave yesterday July 8 headed for the Nomad Nationals in South Dakota with Don & Nancy Shollenbarger from Florida.  It was to be a leisurely trip, arriving Sunday morning in Rapid City.  Our plans changed due to the death of my sister, Jean Powell.  I wanted to thank Paul and Judy Webb and Tommy Hudson for taking the time to come to the funeral home.  The plant the club sent was really nice and appreciated.  Thank you to all of you who have called with your condolences.

Comedy Corner
A little humor for the day!

Bill and his wife Blanche went to the state fair every year, And every year Bill would say, 'Blanche, I'd like to ride in that helicopter'
Blanche always replied,
'I know Bill, but that helicopter ride is fifty bucks, And fifty bucks is fifty bucks'
One year Bill and Blanche went to the fair, and Bill said, 'Blanche, I'm 75 years old. If I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance' To this, Blanche replied,
"Bill that helicopter ride is fifty bucks, and fifty bucks is fifty bucks'
The pilot overheard the couple and said, 'Folks I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and don't say a word I won't charge you a penny! But if you say one word it's fifty dollars.'
Bill and Blanche agreed and up they went.
The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again,
But still not a word...
When they landed, the pilot turned to Bill and said,
'By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't.
I'm impressed!' Bill replied,

'Well, to tell you the truth
I almost said something when Blanche fell out, But you know, "Fifty bucks is fifty bucks!'

UPDATES....from Last Month

RED HILLS CAR SHOW AND FESTIVAL
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
LOUISVILLE, MS
MAY 29, 2010
Reported by:  Mary Robertson

Ed & I left Pulaski early Saturday morning in our 55 pickup and drove to Louisville for the car show and festival.  There were probably 80+ vehicles.  Our truck was in the Modified Truck 1900-1974 Class.  We placed 1st in the class and had a fun time.

The downtown was filled with vendors selling anything you might want.  You know I'm not a shopper but we did walk the entire route looking.  There were more food vendors than I've seen anywhere in a long time.  There were carnival rides for the kids and live entertainment for everyone.

If we had been smart enough to leave immediately after the show, we probably would have missed the rain.  But we visited for quite a while and got to Carthage just in time for a major downpour.
